Diversity in Football Model Workshop
A hands on workshop using wire mesh, papier mache and plaster – the young people created 5 life-sized mannequins of footballers, to represent 5 diverse footballing identities. Working with our youth team, including Abdal Hadi Smith and Danny Kilbride, the workshop was a fun way to learn new craft skills whilst unpicking issues aournd representation of locality, gender, ethnicity and sexuality in sport. The finished models included a Liverpool footballer, an Everton player, a female footballer, a black player, and a gay footballer (sporting the local ‘Mersey Marauders’ colours.
